What GEN-Z thinks about cleaning

What GEN-Z thinks about cleaning

I won’t lie. Cleaning has never been something I look forward to. If someone asked me to choose between cleaning my room and binge-watching a show, I’d probably pick the show every time.

But I’ve noticed something. I don’t actually mind cleaning when I do it a little at a time. What I hate is letting everything pile up until my room looks like a war zone. At that point, it feels impossible to start.

I think a lot of us feel this way. Life gets busy with college, work, assignments, internships, and trying to have a social life. Spending hours deep cleaning just isn’t realistic. I’d rather spend five or ten minutes tidying up whenever I can than lose half my weekend cleaning a huge mess. Half the time, I end up cleaning just because I don’t feel like studying.

One thing that definitely influences me is Instagram. I’ll be scrolling for memes, and then a reel pops up saying, “clean your room with me” or showing a random cleaning hack. Next thing I know, I'm grabbing my headphones, putting on a playlist, setting the mood, and somehow I end up cleaning my room. It’s strange, but those videos work on me. I still don’t enjoy cleaning, but it feels less annoying when the vibe is right. Sometimes I’ll start by cleaning one shelf, and somehow I end up reorganizing my skincare, my desk, or a drawer I didn’t even plan to touch.

I’ve also noticed that a clean room changes my mood. When my desk or bed is covered in random stuff, I can’t focus. But as soon as I clear it up, I feel lighter. Everything seems less chaotic. I’ve also become more aware of the products I use. There are so many options now that I don’t just pick the first cleaner I see anymore. I don’t really want something that smells super harsh or needs a different bottle for every corner of the house. If one product can handle most everyday messes and save me the trouble of buying five different cleaners, that’s a win.

That’s one of the reasons I found EnzeClean interesting. It’s affordable enough to use regularly instead of saving it for special cleaning days, and it works on pretty much every surface I clean mostly my desk, windows, tiles, wooden furniture, kitchen counters, even shoes. Instead of keeping separate cleaners for different jobs, I can reach for one bottle, which honestly makes cleaning feel a lot less complicated. Plus, it’s enzyme-powered, plant-based, and doesn’t rely on harsh chemicals, so it feels like a cleaner I can use around the house without worrying about strong fumes.

For me, cleaning isn’t about having a picture-perfect home. It’s just about having a space that feels nice to be in without spending hours cleaning. If a few simple hacks, a good playlist, and the right cleaning products can make that happen, I’ll do it.
